Presentation: Proposed topics (awaiting for response 9/23/08)
Thirteen years experience with MM Hybrid Hip Resurfacing - A report of the first 1000 Conserve Plus Hips with a minimum 3 year follow-up. A presentation of the clinical and radiological results as well as a survivorship analysis of the first 1000 hips implanted by Dr. Harlan C. Amstutz with the ConservePlus hip resurfacing device.
Femoral Head Only and Full Hip Resurfacing for Osteonecrosis of the Hip –Indications, Operative Technique and Results - A 28 year Experience. A treatment algorithm for patients with osteonecrosis of the hip, based on the results of two bone-conserving procedures.
Results of Big Femoral Head Total Hip Replacement for Prevention and Treatment of Dislocation. Dislocation is the second leading cause of revision with conventional total hip replacements (THR). The use of large femoral heads with THR increases the distance the femoral head center has to travel before dislocation of the joint happens and increases the head – neck ratio, reducing the risk of neck-socket impingement. The clinical effectiveness of these new devices in reducing dislocation rates after THR is presented here.
Failure Mechanisms of Hip Resurfacing: Incidence, Significance and Prevention. What are the most common problems leading to revision of modern era resurfacing devices? How do they relate to surgical technique and patient selection? How can we prevent these complications?
The staff of JRI is engaged in various research studies, including: improving long term joint replacement durability by selective use of new replacement bearing technology, histological characterization of implant fixation, relationship between wear debris and aseptic loosening.
